Operator Obligations DVGW G 621 (A): Seminar at BEW
27 Feb 2026On 28 April 2026, Karl-Heinz Rahner will explain the contents of DVGW G 621 (A) as part of a seminar at BEW – Das Bildungszentrum für die Ver- und Entsorgungswirtschaft gGmbH in Duisburg.
The focus will be on operator obligations for gas installations in laboratories as well as in science and technical teaching rooms. The handling of gaseous hazardous substances and the operation of LPG and natural gas installations require a sound risk assessment and the consistent implementation of technical rules.
The central basis is the DVGW Code of Practice G 621 (A), to which, among others, DGUV Regulation 81 “Schools”, DGUV Information 213-850 and DGUV Rule 110-010 “Use of LPG” refer. The technical rule supports responsible persons in organising the planning, installation, maintenance and operation of gas installations in a structured and legally compliant manner.
How these requirements can be implemented technically is demonstrated, among other things, by our Automatic Laboratory Safety System in accordance with DVGW G 621 (A) and DIN 30666. Before each release of the gas supply, the control unit automatically checks that the outlet points are closed and optionally enables a leak test. Safety valves with double solenoid valve and integrated pressure sensor ensure that, in the event of a fault – such as a gas leak or pressure drop – the gas supply is reliably shut off.
This makes it possible to carry out recurring tightness tests and to monitor central shut-off devices in compliance with standards – from teaching rooms and teachers’ and students’ benches through to research laboratories.
The seminar provides both the normative principles and practical solution approaches for a safe, automated and compliant gas supply in educational establishments.
